For people of all ages who are fit and have an outdoor spirit, kayaking within
Fiordland National Park is something very special. Sea kayaking in Fiordland can be done in Milford
Sound and Doubtful Sound.
It can be done in most weather and is always good even in rain. Strong winds
can be a problem but the experienced guides will advise you on the day.
Of the many experiences you can have, being close to the water gets you close
to nature and you will see the fiords and any animal life in a way that is very different to those
doing a cruise on a boat. Being so close you become at one with nature and puts the towering
mountains into their right prospective.
Observing the many animal visitors can be a highlight. Animals like the
Fiordland crested penguin (Tawaki) or maybe a bottlenose dolphin and the New Zealand fur seal. All
from the quiet and unobtrusive view from a kayak.
